Primary Care: What is it and who does it?

    THURSDAY 10/9
    5:30-6:30pm
    HSB T473
Greek chicken pita wraps and brownies will be served for dinner!

Come engage with Dr. Bill Phillips, the course chair for the popular primary care elective available annually to UW Health Services students, on the topic of primary care. Primary care means many things to many people. What are the essential characteristics that define primary care and differentiate it from the high-cost, low-value, American non-system of disease care? Who can join the movement and be part of the team? What might your own path in primary care look like?

Bill Phillips, MD, MPH, is the TJ Phillips Endowed Professor in Family Medicine at the University of Washington. He practiced full spectrum family medicine for 20 years and now directs the UW Primary Care Research Fellowship, edits the Annals of Family Medicine, and is a member of the US Preventive Services Task Force.
