2018 Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition - Judges
Dear Members of the Bench and Bar:
Please volunteer to serve as an oral argument judge for the National Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition (Competition). The Competition is an appellate advocacy competition sponsored by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) Law Foundation and held in conjunction with the annual NAPABA Convention on November 9-10, 2018 in Chicago, IL. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Competition!
There will be two preliminary rounds and a quarterfinal round on Friday, November 9, 2018:
-Preliminary Round 1: 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
-Preliminary Round 2: 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
-Quarterfinal Round: 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The preliminary and quarterfinal rounds will be held at the Sheraton Grand Chicago located at 301 E. North Water St., Chicago, IL 60611. We ask that you report to the Tennessee meeting room located on the second level at least 20 minutes before your scheduled round to obtain your room assignment.
You may sign up to serve as a judge for one or both of the preliminary rounds and/or the quarterfinal round. There will be eight (8) rooms and three (3) judges are needed for each room for both of the preliminary rounds. There will be four (4) rooms and four (4) judges are needed for each room for the quarterfinal round. We also need volunteers to serve as alternates in case of last minute cancellations.
Once you sign up, you will receive an email with the oral argument judging packet, which will include the rules, problem, bench brief, and oral argument scoring sheets.
If you need to modify or cancel your commitment before Friday, November 2, 2018, please do so via the wejoinin.com link you used to sign up to serve as a volunteer judge. If you have to cancel your commitment after Friday, November 2, 2018, please email Linda Tran (linda.tran.m37t@statefarm.com) or Leah Gould (gould.leah@gmail.com).
Unfortunately, we have limited parking validations for those volunteering from the Chicago area NOT registered to attend the NAPABA Convention. Please email Linda Tran or Leah Gould if you need parking validation.
